The Agnes Quartet was founded in 2020 in the Agnesviertel district of Cologne. The ensemble’s name reflects the deep connection of the four musicians with their chosen home city of Cologne. Through their shared music-making—especially in this formation—they have found a musical home where personal experiences and diverse artistic backgrounds can merge and flourish.

During the Sommer of 2021 the ensemble recorded their first CD, which featured works by Austrian composer Ernst Ludwig Leitner. Shortly afterwards, they were invited to perform live on radio by WDR3, one of Germany`s major broadcasting organisations.

Today, the Agnes Quartet performs regularly throughout Germany and Europe and is a guest at various festivals. Artistically, the ensemble is also shaped by the involvement of its members in renowned orchestras such as the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Opera House Orchestra in London, the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra, and the Gürzenich Orchestra Cologne.
